HDIS V1.11 – July 2024

Data Integration

  1. Updated data from American Community Survey (ACS) to include 2022 5–year estimates

  1. Updated the Demographic Characteristics of People Experiencing Homelessness and Accessing California’s Homeless Response System visualization to reflect Middle Eastern/North African (MENA) responses separately beginning with data collected in 2024, the first full year for which MENA was a response option.

Calculations

  1. Utilizing a new method of reporting race and ethnicity data whereby persons are counted in every race and ethnicity category with which they identified.
  2. Introduced new gender category mappings and names.
  3. Introduced a new Racial and Ethnic Disparities in the Population Experiencing Homelessness Who Accessed Services visualization displaying the overrepresentation and underrepresentation of racial and ethnic groups in HDIS compared to the California general population.
